B-COS

B-COS we care about resilient plant protection. With B-COS, we deliver a scalable, reliable and cost-competitive production technology for tailor-made and structurally perfectly defined chitooligosaccharides (COS). B-COS’ technology is based on a decade of highly innovative research at the Centre for Synthetic Biology (UGent). With B-COS, we identified and produced in-house highly specific, pure and cost-effective COS-molecules which can be applied as crop protection agents (first proof of concept on tomato plants, several diseases) and biostimulants (first proof of concept for drought resistance with tomato plants). Our technological platform outperforms competitors in scalability, consistency, specificity & cost, using engineered bacterial strains as microbial cell factories for specific COS-production. B-COS’ technological innovation will accelerate the path towards customized agriculture which is efficient and cost-effective.
