The device, which consists of a polymer coated biopsy needle and anesthesia needle, releases drugs directly to the prostate during biopsy procedures. This innovative approach aims to reduce infectious complications associated with transrectal ultrasound-guided prostate biopsies (TRUS-Bx) by delivering an effective antibiotic combination directly to the prostate, potentially broadening the spectrum of activity and reducing post-procedure infections.
