Postdoctoral Position in Advanced Functional Materials Synthesis
Job description
•BCMaterials, Basque Center for Materials, Applications and Nanostructures, invites applications for a Postdoctoral position focused on the synthesis of advanced functional materials. The project involves designing, synthesizing, and characterizing novel materials (e.g., polymers, nanoparticles, hybrids) with tailored functionalities for applications in areas such as sensing, energy, or biomedicine.
Preferred experiences
•PhD in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or related discipline. Strong expertise in synthetic chemistry (organic, inorganic, polymer) and material characterization techniques (spectroscopy, microscopy, thermal analysis, etc.). Demonstrated ability to conduct independent research and publish findings. Good command of English. Collaborative spirit.

BC Materials
BC materials addresses the challenge of managing the 22.5 million tonnes of earth excavated annually in Brussels and Flanders. Instead of treating non-polluted earth as waste (60% currently dumped), BC materials manufactures it locally into sustainable building products: Kastar (clay plasters), Brusseleir (compressed earth blocks), and Brickette (compressed earth blocks), alongside rammed earth solutions. These products are CO2-neutral, contribute to healthy indoor climates, and are infinitely circular, capable of being returned to the earth or remanufactured. The company offers manufacturing in the Brussels Region and on-site production services across Belgium to minimize transport and stay close to resource extraction points.
