Job description
•BCMaterials offers a Predoctoral (PhD) position in the field of Smart Polymers. The research will focus on the design, synthesis, and characterization of stimuli-responsive polymers (e.g., shape memory polymers, electroactive polymers) for applications in soft robotics, biomedical devices, or smart systems.

•Master’s degree in Polymer Science, Chemistry, Materials Science, or related field. Strong background in polymer synthesis and characterization. Interest in functional materials and actuation mechanisms. Good laboratory skills. Proficiency in English. Ability to work in an international team.

BC Materials
BC materials addresses the challenge of managing the 22.5 million tonnes of earth excavated annually in Brussels and Flanders. Instead of treating non-polluted earth as waste (60% currently dumped), BC materials manufactures it locally into sustainable building products: Kastar (clay plasters), Brusseleir (compressed earth blocks), and Brickette (compressed earth blocks), alongside rammed earth solutions. These products are CO2-neutral, contribute to healthy indoor climates, and are infinitely circular, capable of being returned to the earth or remanufactured. The company offers manufacturing in the Brussels Region and on-site production services across Belgium to minimize transport and stay close to resource extraction points.
