Postdoctoral Position in Circular Biobased Composites for Construction
Job description
•BCMaterials, Basque Center for Materials, Applications and Nanostructures, is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to join our team working on the development of circular biobased composites for construction applications. The successful candidate will work on the formulation, processing, and characterization of novel composite materials derived from renewable resources and waste streams, aiming to improve sustainability in the construction industry.
Preferred experiences
•PhD in Materials Science, Polymer Science, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field. Proven experience in composite materials, biopolymers, material characterization techniques (mechanical testing, thermal analysis, microscopy, etc.). Strong publication record. Experience with construction materials or circular economy concepts is a plus. Excellent communication skills in English. Ability to work independently and contribute to team goals.

BC Materials
BC materials addresses the challenge of managing the 22.5 million tonnes of earth excavated annually in Brussels and Flanders. Instead of treating non-polluted earth as waste (60% currently dumped), BC materials manufactures it locally into sustainable building products: Kastar (clay plasters), Brusseleir (compressed earth blocks), and Brickette (compressed earth blocks), alongside rammed earth solutions. These products are CO2-neutral, contribute to healthy indoor climates, and are infinitely circular, capable of being returned to the earth or remanufactured. The company offers manufacturing in the Brussels Region and on-site production services across Belgium to minimize transport and stay close to resource extraction points.
